When your body is changing, it might feel strange to pose for a photo shoot with confidence. Take advice from an expert! These easy tips will have you saying, “Keep shooting!” in no time.
1. Pamper Ahead
A week or two before, touch up any roots or get a trim - but no big haircuts! A mani for both you and your partner, even a neat pedi. If you really want to glow, schedule a facial a week before too.
2. Time It Right
This can really be pregnant-mommy specific, but ideally, 26-32 weeks is best for travel and photo shoot time!
3. Pick Your Wardrobe
The Babymoon Photographer has a huge dream wardrobe available to you. We’ll discuss the look before the shoot so you can plan your partner’s wardrobe and shop ahead if needed. If you’re planning to show skin, avoid elastics and tight clothing that will leave marks.
4. Select a Location
Anywhere you love. Anywhere that is important to you. A place you envision when you close your eyes and dream! Once we decide the location, we scout out the best spots ahead of your shoot.
5. Practice Posture
First, stand up tall from the crown of your head as if someone is pulling a string from above. Push your chin straight towards the camera and slightly downward. With pregnancy it is extra important to extend your neck and lean slightly towards the camera.
6. Use Your Arms + Legs
Avoid pressing arms against your body or pulling them away. Instead pull your elbow backward slightly, it slims your arms as far as the camera sees and looks a lot more natural. Make sure the leg closest to the camera is popped up on your toe. It sculpts your butt and accentuates your curves. Also, make sure you keep your fingers together when placed on your belly. Wiggle them a little to keep them naturally placed.
7. Focus on Lighting
Closest to sunrise and sunset is the sweet spot. I know 6 am is hard to do but so worth it. And the best part about The Babymoon Photographer is the entire day is dedicated to you – including sunset.
8. Trust Your Photographer
Tell your photographer how you see yourself and how you want to see yourself. Once the camera starts clicking, trust their expertise. When we pose you, we have the end portrait in mind and know exactly how we’ll be editing the image. So, relax and let the artist be free to work with you as the muse.
9. Rely on Editing
Editing is magic. Blemishes disappear. Light body contouring enhances the overall image. We might give your hair a little extra volume or we might smooth out a panty line. When you see your finished images, you will LOVE them!
10. Have Fun!
Above all, this is the most important tip to remember. It’s your moment and your day. It might be a full day, but it should absolutely be fun! Play to the camera. Feel nothing but amazing. Your experience during your shoot is our top priority.
