While I’m called The Babymoon Photographer, I often have clients who are no longer pregnant contact me. Sometimes they call upset that they never took photos during their pregnancy. I thought it was important to share this point: if you missed the dreamy babymoon, you haven’t missed "The Moment"!
BMP destination photography is not just for expecting couples – it’s for all families. All women, actually. In every step of the journey. At every moment worth a portrait.
Travel brings out the carefree and bliss. All the problems and worries of life fade so easily in these moments. That’s why the opportunity is so priceless to capture in an image. Think about sitting on the beach and watching your children running and playing – just being happy in this moments of their lives. And most of all, capturing the connection you have as a mother with your child.
Take Jennifer in these images. When we first spoke, her gorgeous baby was five months old. She shared that she regretted not having portraits done while pregnant. She talked about the intimate bond she was experiencing while breastfeeding. And that’s how we decided the focus of our shoot.
It was amazing photographing this moment for Jennifer. She had dedicated so much of herself the first couple months to nursing her daughter. It had been a struggle. She wanted to celebrate this milestone and this moment.
She said,“As a new mom, I have felt so many new emotions. Becoming a mom has given me super-human strength to keep going no matter how tired I am. During our late night feedings, I find myself feeling so grateful that I was chosen to nurture and raise this tiny little human and that my body was capable of creating this sweet miracle! I am so happy to have these intimate moments captured forever.”
There is no set “milestone” to capture meaningful portraits. Your portrait as a new mother or even a seasoned mother is a beautiful gift to pass down to your children and grandchildren. I encourage any woman in the journey of her life, in any stage of motherhood, to freeze those moments.
